Social Bookmarking

Are you still having trouble maintaining all your bookmarks at work and at home? Do you get frustrated when you have the bookmark on your home computer, but not on your work computer?

You may want to consider Social Bookmarking tools. These tools are revolutionizing the industry and part of an array of new Web 2.0 tools. Social bookmarking tools (there's a ton of them) allow you to organize your bookmarks into one or more categories (tags), add a description about the bookmark and then save them to your Web account. You can retrieve these "tags" on any internet-connected computer. Any of these tools will allow you to upload your current bookmarks to your online account.

You maybe noticed little icons appearing at the bottom of Web pages such as Digg This or add to del.icio.us. By clicking on these, you can add the Web page to your bookmarks.

My preference is a social bookmarking tool called http://diigo.com. With diigo, you can highlight, add stick notes and make your comments private or public. I have recently uploaded a number of sites to my diigo acount. You can view them at http://diigo.com/user/ntroll2. The size of the tag refers the frequency of Web sites that you associate with a tag. The larger the tag, the more Web sites are tagged with it.
